Nerd Weed & Pest is locally owned and operated in the Oklahoma City metro. We started it because we kept meeting homeowners who had paid a lawn company for years and still could not tell you what had been done to their yard, or why.
Because turf is a science, and most of the industry treats it like a route.
A healthy lawn is soil chemistry, grass physiology and weather timing. Pre-emergent applied two weeks late is money burned. A Bermuda product on a fescue lawn does real damage. The right product in the wrong order does less than it should.
So we lean into it. We measure, we time applications to conditions instead of to a schedule, we do every visit in the same deliberate order, and every invoice explains what we did and why, so you can hold us to it. When the question is disease, fungus, an insect or the soil itself, it goes to our agronomist rather than a guess on the phone. If that makes us the nerds of the lawn business, we will take it.
Four rules we run on
Tell the truth
If your lawn needs water and not another application, we will say so and skip the sale. No product kills every weed, and we will not tell you ours does.
Explain the work
Every invoice says what we did, why we did it, and what to expect next. No mystery door hangers, and no charge you cannot trace to a reason.
Earn the next round
No contracts and no cancellation fees. If we are not worth it, you should be able to stop with a phone call. We will ask why, once.
Answer the phone
A local number that a local person picks up. If we are not sure, we say so and find out, because a wrong answer about a pesticide is a liability, not a callback.
The same way, every property
Most services take under twenty minutes. A small lot done right does not take long. Here is what those minutes look like.
A call the day before
So the gate is unlocked and the dog is inside. Pets are secured before anyone touches a hose: a dog that gets sprayed is a vet bill, and a dog that gets out is our fault.
Knock first
The technician knocks, rings, steps back, introduces themselves, and asks one question: do you have any questions or concerns about your lawn before we get started? If nobody answers, the service proceeds and the door hanger carries the details.
Backyard first
Back, side yards, then front, so nobody drags a hose or a machine across turf that was just treated, and the front looks finished when you pull in. Every granule gets blown off the drive and walks.
On camera, with photos
Every technician wears a body camera from the truck to the truck. Photos of the front, back, problem areas, the closed gate and the hanger go in your file. If you think the back was skipped, the photos answer it.
The door hanger
What was done, the dry time or re-entry instruction, what the technician noticed in plain words, the recommended follow-up, and their name. It is your record and the safety instruction in one place.
A survey the same day
You get a text asking how we did and how the technician did. Every response is read. If something went wrong, that is the fastest way to reach the people who can fix it.

Our technicians are licensed through the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and carry continuing education in ornamental and turf pest control.
Insured
Fully insured for general liability and pesticide application. Certificates available on request before we ever set foot in your yard.
Our agronomist
Watering, mowing, dry times and what a service does, the office answers. Disease, fungus, insect identification, soil questions and renovation go to our agronomist, who looks at the lawn before anyone recommends anything.
